![]() ![]() Over all it is a good book for a child to grow in many directions with. It's a good book for students to start reading by themselves. It's a good book to read as a bed time story. If you haven't read it before, pick up a copy and share it with a child. I would look for his work in the future and I would also let parents know about it. I love it and I wish it was more celebrated. In this hilarious spin on the classic Goldilocks and the Three Bears story. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat. Laughing out loud together can be one of the best ways to nurture connection. As I said before it could be good for repetition if it is a favorite for the student or a group of students (E25). We would also be reading with a specific purpose (E9). It would be easy and effective to spend a few minutes assessing prior knowledge of students from other cultures who might not have been exposed to traditional fairy tales (A13). If a student is a big fan, this book is part of a series of 3 books altogether so far. It is good at holding a child's attention and it could be good for repetition if the children like it enough to request it again. I would have to do some research, but I would like to use it while teaching about structure and purpose for writing. Children can learn a lot about the classics through studying this story and the various stories that it draws inspiration from. I would need a doc cam with a zoom to enlarge the pictures or if possible a digital copy and projector. The pictures do not lend themselves to be a read aloud naturally. I would want to find some way to turn it into a read aloud book. It turns out that Goldilocks has 7 energetic young boys living with him who would each love to keep a bear as a companion. When Goldilocks meets her, instead of killing her he decides to kiss her and falls madly in love and asks the 'giant' and all Seven Squat Bears to come live at his castle. They come home from a nice walk in the woods to find a 'giant' sleeping across all seven of their beds. The Seven Squat Bears (a cross between the three bears and the Seven Dwarfs) come to him to ask for help. In this re-take Goldilocks is the name of our hero, modeled after Jack the Giant Slayer. This is an excellent re-imagining of Goldilocks and the three bears. ![]()
